About Worship

Remember all that the Lord has done for us.

"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness."

Psalm 29:2 (ESV)

"Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care."

Psalm 95:6-7 (NIV)

"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness."

1 Chronicles 16:29 (NIV)

"Let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire."

Hebrews 12:28 (ESV)

Worship is important to God because it reflects the relationship between humanity and the divine—it’s about love, reverence, trust, and alignment with God's nature and purpose. In the Bible and many religious traditions, worship is not about inflating God's ego but about transforming the human heart. Here’s why it matters from a theological perspective:

Worship affirms God's worthiness: The word "worship" comes from the Old English weorthscipe, meaning "worthiness" or "honor." Worship is a response to God's holiness, love, and sovereignty.

Worship centers the worshiper: Worship aligns our priorities, reminding us that life is not ultimately about us but about something greater.

Worship fosters humility and gratitude. It builds relationship: Like love in any relationship, worship is an expression of intimacy and connection. God desires a relationship with people, and worship is a key part of that.

Worship forms character: What we worship shapes who we become. If we worship power, money, or self, we are shaped by those values. Worshiping God reorients our lives toward justice, mercy, and truth.

Worship reflects God's design: Many faiths teach that humans were created to worship—not as puppets, but as beings made in the image of God, called to freely reflect His glory.
